Sparring (1) - character study
technical pen, colored pencils
Here's a little fun scene between Phantom and Pacifica--he's countering her attack in his usual nonchalant manner, and as a result Pacifica is stumbling. Phantom's got his name because of his freakish way of moving, it's unpredictable and eerily agile, almost inhuman. I like to think of it as a cross between teleportation and drunken fist! So, when Pacifica thrusts at him, he merely steps back and with a mere shift of the body through the shoulder and arm, he counters and Pacifica is unable to compensate properly. This was yet another cursory coloring job, but it's fun to draw Pacifica and Phantom sparring, especially as their uniforms match (and we know how cute that is!)

Also, I realize that Phantom's hand is stupidly enormous--it's an accident of carelessness ^^;; I often draw men's hands way too small, so as a result I over compensate sometimes when drawing fight scenes. Male hands and torsos are definitely beautifully masculine things, so I tend to exaggerate or simplify them in sketches.

This sketch is (1) because I plan on doing a lot more in this style.
