This is my second entry for the 15_themes project on livejournal. Here's the explanation I gave:
Because she murdered several people before she was drafted to the Ace Squad, Pacifica had to cut a deal with the law in order to receive clemency. If she never left the Squadron and gave her life to its duties, the government would stay her death penalty. This was all fine and good until the mother of one of the people Pacifica murdered started pressing Pacifica into avenging her son (not knowing Pacifica was the murderer). Phantom has a hand in this ;) I'll just leave it at that.
