Adobe Photoshop -- study
This was originally sketched in graphite in my sketchbook in January 05, transferred to canvas and painted in acrylics for a preliminary color scheme. It was too monochromed so I ditched it. After doing 'drift' I decided to give this piece a shot in photoshop and am much happier with the results. The photograph of the galaxy in the background was added on a whim and adds so much to this. The reason Phantom looks old is, well, because he is. (He's one of those lucky bastards with good genetics -- his hair doesn't thin as he ages! I'm guessing he's in his 40s in this picture.) Note that I was drinking Red Bull while CGing this -- Red Bull gave him one wing only because the universe hates Phantom.
